Predicting the elasto-plastic response of short fiber reinforced composites using a computationally efficient multi-scale framework based on physical matrix properties

Predicting the nonlinear mechanical response of short fiber reinforced composites (SFRCs) is a crucial and challenging task. In this paper, computationally efficient multi-scale strategy proposed to predict anisotropic elasto-plastic behavior SFRCs using intrinsic pure polymer fibers without requirements for reverse engineering. doing so, different simple unit cells are first examined find one that can adequately describe SFRCs' representative volume elements (RVE) with aligned fibers. Considering effects packing configuration, aspect ratio, fraction material properties, performance investigated. Then, homogenized responses linked Hill's plasticity model correlate suggested cell continuum domain. Using pseudo-grain approach numerical orientation averaging framework, misalignment taken into account. A multi-step homogenization also employed consider variation tensor through thickness. Finally, validity robustness extensively investigated based on RVE-generated results available experimental observations.
